According to the CDC 1 in 3 Americans do not get enough sleep!

This is disappointing as it is at the core of a healthy and well functioning body. Without enough and good quality sleep a long list of bodily functions, hormone production and balance and even things like our mood, stress, anxiety, ability to concentrate, decision making, cravings and more are all impacted!

Good news though!

There are things you can do to improve your sleep quality and quantity! Below are just 3 easy tips according to the sleep foundation! Create a Sleep Inducing Room Create a comfortable and relaxing environment without distractions! Avoid light disruptions! Our best tip… black out shades!

Peaceful and quiet room. Play white noise or keep a fan on to block out background noises. Use essential oils to create soothing aromas. Optimize your sleep schedule!

Try thinking of your sleep like a budget. Find the time that you can stay consistent with waking up and then work backwards to find your optimal bedtime. Be careful of napping too much during the day as it can make it difficult to stick to your bedtime.

Create a Pre-Bedtime Routine Having a bedtime routine will help you wind down and be able to fall asleep once in bed. Half an hour to an hour before bed you can read, listen to calming music, journal, drink a calming tea, stretch or meditate.

Make sure to lower your lights and turn off all screens. Hopefully you can find some idea to help you get better quality sleep and improve your overall health!
