Here at Skinny we have our Detox Tea and 7 Day Detox Ebook but maybe you do not even know if you should detox or are ready.

Well what is “detox”?  Detoxing refers to removing toxins from our bodies, which our bodies are great at detoxing themselves, BUT in today’s world we are literally drowning in toxins.  Toxins include pollutants, synthetic chemicals, heavy metals, all of which can be found in our water, air, plastics, clothes, cleaning products, make-up, food, literally everything! A build up of these can can negatively affect our health.

Believe it or not, full-body detox is part of regular organ function.  Our body naturally eliminates harmful substances through the kidneys, liver, digestive system, skin, and lungs.  There are ways we can help make this easier for our body and prime it for programs like the Skinny Detox Tea.

Below are 5 tips to help keep your body detoxing at its best!

1. Drink more water

Water regulates our body temperature, lubricates joints, aids in digestion and nutrient absorption AND detoxifies your body by removing waste.  Staying hydrated is key to all detox functions of the body!

2. Focus on sleep

Getting quality sleep helps support the body’s natural detoxification systems. Sleep allows our brain to reorganize and recharge, but it also allows it to remove toxic waste and byproducts from the day.

3. Eat Antioxidant-rich Foods

Antioxidants protect our body from free radicals which cause oxidative stress.  Oxidative stress can cause damage to the body's cells increasing your risk for disease, including gut issues, mental health issues and even cancer.  As our body’s detox, free radicals are released, so you want an army of antioxidants there to help eliminate them from the body.  Antioxidants include but are not limited to vitamin A, C, E, selenium, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin.

4. Eat foods high in prebiotic fibers

Gut health is one of the most important factors of detox as our gut eliminates so many toxins and plays a large role in our immune system.  The intestinal cells have a detoxification and excretion system that protects our body from toxins and chemicals.  Eating foods high in prebiotic fiber that helps feed and strengthen the good bacteria in your gut called probiotics which keep your gut healthy!

5. Stay Active

We can list endless benefits of daily activity, but one key benefit is reduced inflammation.  Some inflammation is needed for healing from a wound or even a hard workout,  but a majority of inflammation weakens the immune system and promotes disease.  Exercise can help get the blood and bodily fluids moving to help the detoxification process and reduce inflammation throughout your body making it stronger!
