Deciding to start your weight loss journey and actually doing it are two very different things. That is because starting it means you need to change or do something, and changing habits or a part of your daily routine is not easy! So instead of running into a meal plan or working out five days a week, we came up with 5 easy things you can do to start making progress and perhaps even motivate you to fully commit to your journey.

Eat Slowly!

It may sound silly but eating slowly not only allows you to enjoy your food, relax and destress a bit, but it also allows your body to tell you when it is satisfied soone!  So slow it down, taste your food, chew slowly and take your time before swallowing and doing it again.

Get Enough Sleep!

Do not make dieting harder than it has to be!  Before you start dieting you should make sure to get at least those 6-7 hours of sleep a night.  Lack of sleep causes an increase in the hunger hormone called ghrelin making you feel hungrier, and a decrease in the satisfaction hormone leptin, which tells you when you're full. Meaning you will most likely over eat. On top of that, lack of sleep causes us to crave more salty and sweet foods which are higher in calories, to provide our body the energy it needs to function which it did not get with sleep!

Stay Hydrated

Did you know that studies have shown that if you drink 2 glasses of water before a meal were more likely to lose more weight and keep it off.  Not to mention sometimes you may feel hungry, when really you just need water!

Do Not Skip Meals

Just because you want to lose weight, does not mean you should skip meals! If you skip meals your body will realize it needs energy, and you will soon have cravings for higher calorie and typically not the healthiest foods. Eating a minimum of 3 if not 4-5 times a day will make dieting much easier!

Have Protein at every meal!

Eating protein-rich foods especially at breakfast has been proven to help individuals lose weight!

Protein helps keep us feeling fuller longer by slowing the digestive system and affecting those hunger hormones in a positive way! The body also has to work hard and burn more calories to break down and metabolize the protein!

These are easy changes you can make before jumping into any diet or training plans to help make it easier and make you more successful in the program and long term!
